About Promiseland

Promiseland Trust is a non-profit organisation based in Walvis Bay, Namibia, dedicated to supporting vulnerable children through care, nutrition, education, and community programmes.

Since 2009, Promiseland has worked to create a safe and supportive environment where children can grow, learn, and build a stronger future.

Our Story

Promiseland Trust began in 2009 with one simple mission — to feed hungry children in Walvis Bay.

In the early days, meals for between 100 and 250 children were prepared in a steel container, without electricity, running water, or shelter. Children ate outside, but they came for more than just food — they came for care, safety, and a sense of belonging.

With the support of local businesses and the wider community, a house was purchased in Tutaleni and gradually transformed into what is now the Promiseland Centre — a safe, child-friendly space offering meals, early education, and care.

Through partnerships such as Walvis Bay Kids’ Haven, the Foster Care Project was established to provide a stable home for vulnerable children. As this chapter approaches completion, Promiseland continues to grow, evolve, and expand its impact through new and future-focused initiatives.

Our Approach

The reason Promiseland exists is simple — to bring lasting, positive change to our community.

We believe in empowering people to help themselves, fostering independence, dignity, and hope. At the heart of everything we do is our core value:

Every child will be treated with respect, fairness, and love.

Our Trustees and staff lead by example, working with dedication and compassion to create opportunities for children to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
